All about Grace Kids and Youth Ministries!

Grace Kids/Youth Ministry programs are provided as an opportunity for parents to have their children supervised during a recognised church activity. They also serve to teach children the core doctrines of the Christian faith with the hope that they too will hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mummy & Me caters for the babies, toddlers and before school age children. Although Mum's attend this group with their children, we ask that you fill in a form so that we have your childs current details available incase they are needed. This will place them in our system ready to move up to Sunday School at the appropriate time.

Grace Kids Sunday School programs are provided for children from the ages of 3 -12. We encourage children older than this to remain in the service. This is with the aim to foster their transition into adulthood.

Grace Juniors and Grace Youth Group are provided for children/youth from grade 4 to grade 12. These groups provide opportunities for teaching and fellowship during the week and have similar policies to our Sunday School ministry.

At GBC we take the safety of our children and vulnerable people very seriously. We have put policies in place to provide transparency in our ministries. We believe the Lord requires us to care for our church family.

All Childrens Ministry leaders and helpers are volunteers who have passed the churchs screening process, completed training and possess a positive Working with Children Check.

Please read through the policies below and if you have any further questions, we encourage you to contact your childs leader/teacher and they will happily assist you.

1. All children who attend a Childrens/Youth Ministry program must have the ability to go to the toilet themselves.

  • This includes being able to remove their own undergarments and use sanitary equipment available.
  • We encourage parents to ensure children have used toilet facilities prior to church services starting, or prior to attending a group during the week.
  • In the case of very young children who may need assistance, we ask that the parent/s please keep their phone on and handy so we can contact them during the service to assist their own child.

2. Children in Childrens/Youth Ministry programs will be adequately supervised at all times. Children/Youth should never leave the Childrens/Youth Ministry program area unless accompanied by an authorised adult who is responsible for them.

  • Our leaders/teachers WILL NOT allow your child to leave with someone who is not approved to collect them.
  • Approved people need to be listed on this form before they collect your child.
  • Only siblings 18 years of age and over can collect children for you. They must also be listed on the form.
  • Please be courteous to our volunteer leaders and teachers and collect your children promptly at the end of Sunday school and youth ministries.
  • If you are serving in a ministry that overlaps with collection time, please make sure you have arranged with one of your listed, approved adults to collect your child/children on time.
  • To clarify: you are required to drop off your child/children and pick them up in person. The teacher/leader MUST see you and you MUST confirm with them that they have seen you take your child. This is to protect your child and the leaders as per our safe ministry policy at GBC.

3. Childrens Ministry capability limitations.

  • If a child/youth requires support beyond the capabilities of the volunteers available, it may be decided that this ministry is not suitable for attendance without additional support. Where this happens, other arrangements may be developed with input by the parent/caregiver and teacher/leader.
  • If during a ministry a child/youth does require additional support, the parents/caregivers will be notified and may be required to collect their child/youth immediately. This decision will be made at the discretion of the ministry volunteers. Further discussion will be available with the ministry leaders if required.

4. All parents or caregivers must accurately complete this form BEFORE a child can attend a Childrens/Youth Ministry program.

  • The form collects important information such as: allergies, contact detail and date of birth.
  • A reminder that all under 18s must use a parental/caregivers email address and phone number for their contact details. This provides transparency when our leaders contact your children.
  • A digital copy of these will be stored in an online database.
  • All information submitted is for use by GBC leadership only.
  • By submitting this form, you agree to our policies and commit to following these guidelines.
  • If any parents or caregivers do not seek to comply with this policy, it is encouraged that discussions be held with the ministry leadership team to ensure your child/youth is not excluded from attendance unnecessarily.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to caring for and serving your children/youth at GBC Holland Park.
